Lakeside boys clinched the NEA baseball title, as they defeated Colfax 6 to 1, behind the pitching of Kyle Stillar and some timely hitting by Travis Corigliano and Rylin Dukes. Colfax came to play, as both teams had trouble scoring until the bottom of the 4th inning when Stillar hit a 2 out double and scored on a sharp single up the middle by Corigliano. It appeared that Colfax might score in the top half of the 4th, but the Lakeside defense killed the rally with a Stillar to Herzer to Corigliano double play. Lakeside put the game away in the bottom of the 5th, as Colfax made a costly error, which allowed 2 runs to score. Dukes followed with his 6th HR of the season to put Lakeside up 5 to 0. Scott Richards was robbed of HR, also in the fifth, on a nice play by the Colfax leftfielder, who reached over the fence to snag Richards shot. Lakeside added a run in the 6th and Colfax scored an unearned run in the 7th to close out the scoring
Lakeside plays their last home game(s) on Saturday, April 28th, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
