Lakeside Volleyball News for the week of October 15, 2007

Lakeside VS Newport - The Eagles started the week off traveling to Newport to meet the Grizzlies. It was Senior Night in Newport and the emotions were high. The Eagles knew that they had to play well because the Grizzlies came to battle. The Eagles came out strong. They won the first two games 25-18, 25-22. The Eagles started struggling in the third game with communication and found themselves down at times, by at least eight points. At one point it was 0-7 and 8-16. The Eagles roared back but lost the game 17-25. The Eagles were not happy with their performance in the third game. They came back stronger then ever and won the fourth game 25-13. Kelli Tikker led the team with 10 kills. Cami Alexander had 17 assists and 3 aces. Alessha Denney and Sara Moffatt led the defense. Aleesha Denney had a season high of 8 blocks and Sara Moffatt added 15 digs.
Lakeside VS Colfax – This match had everything on the line. Colfax had not lost a league match this year. The Eagles had only lost one and that was to the Bulldogs in the first round. This match was for the league title. This was also Senior Night for the Eagles. The Eagles are graduating three talented volleyball players. They are Kelli Tikker, Aleesha Denney, and Gillian Charboneau. Kelli Tikker will be playing volleyball for Gonzaga University next year. Aleesha Denney is being looked at by several colleges and Gillian Charbonneau will be hanging up her volleyball shoes and attending Eastern Washington University. The match between the Bulldogs and Eagles was a great match. Every point was backed up and answered with a point from the other team. Neither team ever led by more than two points until the third game of the match. Lakeside fell to the Bulldogs 23-25, 23-25, and 19-25. Kelli Tikker had 17 kills. Lauryn Bassen led in the assist column with 17 assists. Aleesha Denney had 3 blocks and 2 aces for the Eagles. Sara Moffatt added 16 digs.
