LAKESIDE CLINCHES 1ST!

Taking a lesson from Newport's victory over them in front of a home crowd the night before, the Lakeside volleyball squad dropped the first two sets at Freeman before taking the next two and the tie-breaker to win the Northeast A League title with a league record of 7-1. With the loss at home, Freeman dropped to 5-2 in league, with their final game of the regular season on the road at Jenkins High School in Chewelah tonight.

The Scotties blasted the Lady Eagles 25-16 in the first set and eeked out a win in the second 25-23. But Head Coach Kara Moffatt's crew would not go down without a fight, rallying to win the next two 25-18 and 25-16 and bringing the match down to the fifth set tie breaker -- first to 15, win by 2. And that is just what the Lady Eagles did at gut check time, winning the tie breaker set, match and the league championship by a score of 15-13.

The on fire Alexander had a match-leading 20 kills and 2 digs, while Moffatt led all defensive efforts with 31 digs.
