League-leading Lakeside ladies

Lakeside's varsity volleyball team sits alone atop Northeast A League standings this week with a 6-0 record heading into Tuesday night's 7pm home match against league 1-5 Newport.

The Lady Eagles are 8-3 overall after tangling with a couple of scrappy Idaho squads in Priest River and St Maries, and falling to former 1A nemesis Colfax, which is now dominating the 2B classification with an 11-0 undefeated season so far, 8-0 in the Bi-County 1B/2B League. NEA's Chewelah and Freeman were also beaten by Colfax this year. Freeman is in second place in league with a 5-1 record, 6-5 overall.

Newport, 6-6 overall, beat Priest River twice in non-league matches this season.
